Kelemen Company ❤s Malibu
On Thursday, November 8th, the Woolsey Fire erupted in Ventura County and spread towards the coast, wreaking destruction in its wake. As of today, the fire has reached 91,572 acres, destroyed 370 homes, and threatened 57,000 more.
Our hearts go out to those who were impacted. We here at the Kelemen Company have recently acquired 38.47 acres of land in Malibu which were also affected by the fire. Though the burning of land is not as devastating as the loss of a home, we feel that as new members of the community in Malibu, we must do what we can to give back and help the people around us.
Therefore we urge everyone who is in a position to do so to donate their money or time to aid the brave firefighters, first responders, and victims of this fire.
The Red Cross is accepting both donations and volunteers. Donations can be made through the Red Cross website or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS, or by texting CAWILDFIRES to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Their volunteer application can be found here.
The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation is also accepting donations so that they can purchase hydration backpacks for firefighters. You can donate to them on their site.
The California Fire Foundation is supplying victims of the fire with emergency funds so they can buy food, clothing, and shelter. You can donate to that program on their site.
The United Way of Greater Los Angeles and the United Way of Ventura County have partnered up to collect donations for their Disaster Relief Fund. You can donate to it on their site, or by texting UWVC to 41444.
And the Humane Society of Ventura County is sheltering evacuated pets from the affected areas and accept both donations and item purchases off their Amazon Wish List.
In times of tragedy and crisis, it is important for us to help one another. The Kelemen Company believes strongly in helping communities grow, and we hope we can do what we can to help our new community rebuild.
